PHILCO  41-616 "Georgian" Console
                                                Circa 1941

This hefty console is from Philco's 1941 line up. It's the biggest and best radio they had to offer for that model year. This is the "Georgian" cabinet and features the "Beam of Light" record turntable. It also has the optional record cutter. This option includes a really cool chrome plated microphone.  Also the "Mystery Control" wireless remote is present!
The cabinet is quite a work of art in its own right. The walnut inlay is very intricate and in perfect condition. This particular cabinet style was designed by Emil I. Harman and features a tilt-out speaker grille to reveal the turntable/record cutter.
All these features made this a very expensive radio in its day. This model sold for $395.00 without the record cutter option!
The cabinet is just beautiful with a pristine original finish. The only repair that I would suggest is to refinish the feet on the cabinet . The darker toner finish is flaking off the feet and would look great if it were restored. Otherwise, the original finish has a great patina and gloss.
As for the electrical condition, all I can say is that it's in "As Found" condition.
Everything appears to be complete, including the original "Philco" battery in the remote. The only detail that seems to be missing is the little power indicator jewel that mounts in the hole on the center of the front of the cabinet.

This radio sold recently on eBay and found a new happy home in New Jersey. Good luck with the chassis restoration, Bob. It should make an AWESOME set!
